Great value. Lovely staff.

Beach WOW. Amazing. Got to be the best on the island. Breakfast was good sadly no decaf coffee but plenty of tea options. Bedroom was great. Very comfortable bed with fabulous views of the beach ️. The guy at the pool bar was . Also the staff on the reception were all very helpful

Nothing really. Maybe being on the 4th floor with no lifts. We were ok but others may struggle.

This is the perfect beach retreat. The beach is absolutely stunning, pools are great and rooms are amazing. Also used the spa (best treatments we’ve had in Malaysia by a long stretch) plus gym and tennis courts were brilliant

Everyone was so nice and the service was great.

Everyone was so nice and the service was great. You don't have to do anything, they do everything for you. They cary the bags to the room, take your order at the pool, they pulled back the chair at the restaurant, came running when you arrived at the restaurant, ... and always with a smile, a goodmorning,... The food was also good and there was plenty of choice. The location was super if you want some peace and quit, it was sometimes like we were alone on the world. The mangrove excursion was so beautiful and the guide was great, it was like he knew everything and was so kind.

There were some sticky spots in our bathroom around the sink and the pamflets next to the bathtub for the spa were covered in some sort of oil. This was a shame because the rest of the room and resort was super clean!

What was the highlight of Tanjung Rhu Resort

We loved it 20 years ago, we loved it 5 years ago and we love it now!

This is our sixth stay here returning with our son and his girlfriend who hasn't visited since he was a child. The view is absolutely gorgeous, the pictures don't do it justice. We each had a Bayu Senya sea facing room. The rooms have a totally separate lounge. Do request ground floor if you don't like stairs as there are no lifts (apart from to the Anjung suite). The food throughout was excellent. We love Suraya's chicken chops and wraps at Sunset pool restaurant - the best ever!! We enjoyed dinner at Chefs Table which was superb and we ate here quite a few times in the evenings. We had a private beach bbq one evening, which was excellent and we were treated like V.I.P's. Both swimming pools were beautiful but we love the adult only Sands Pool -although we did go to Sunset pool (Suraya's) for lunch everyday as the food was so good there. We enjoyed the Saturday night beach barbeque at Sands Pool - so much choice! The property is beautifully maintained and so clean. We loved seeing that the hornbills have moved in! The biggest plus for us is that we are now protected from smokers because of new laws in Malaysia. We just love it that smokers can only smoke in designated areas and we could eat at the restaurants and sit at the pool without being inflicted by smoke - well done Malaysia and thank you Tanjung Rhu!

We hope for the sake of the resort that some of the rooms can come out of being mothballed. However, in the meantime it is wonderfully quiet with less people so enjoy it - marvellous!

Fantastic staycation

Private beach, quite, less people, peaceful place. i choose this mainly because of the pools as i swim a lot. they have 3 fantastic pools which i really appreciate it. salt water and ozone treated pool. amazing. the room services are fantastic. they make sure i am ready for bed with mosquito repellant & essential oil ready. fill up my mineral waters a few time + evening cookies. really made my day. food are great with generous food spread. no complaint. eat well, swim well. airport transfer is included. and also spacious room.

the aircond temperature is fine but it is on and off all the time. not sure because of the sensor or what. hope they can fixed it.

Some of the building are not well maintained but the room is well maintained tho.

The sunset pool and bar was amazing. The Damai Suite was amazing and super comfortable The breakfast was superb!! The private beach with the view was amazing! Extremely friendly staff!

Would have been nice if there was a complimentary coconut water stand on the beach. Fresh and cold coconut water would have been great in the heat.

What was the highlight of Tanjung Rhu Resort

All in all, highly recommended this hotel, we were more that happy to spend 10 days there!

The hotel is stunning, it looks exactly like on the photos and we were happy to discover it. The room was really spacey, as girls we enjoyed the big wardrobe and two sinks, also it was nice to have both shower cabin and the bath. The room was cleaned everyday and everything always looks good. Breakfasts were various, many european dishes with local touches like dim sams or wok. Also, you can have coffee of your choice (you can order, it’s free) and Prosecco. While eating you can enjoy the beautiful view of the beach. It was nice to have two swimming pools: the first one is a family related, so if you prefer more quiet and relaxed atmosphere you can go to the second one that is adults only. On the beach you can take sun-bed and stay under an umbrella, there always a free place. The sea is really two steps away front the pools and the beach. Bars and restaurants have a nice menu and a good choice of food and drinks. However, if you have an option to buy drinks in a supermarket and store them in the fridge it’s a nice idea, because beer, for example, is quite pricy. There is not entertainments in the hotel like evening shows or disco, so keep that in mind. For us it was totally fine, we loved watching Netflix in the evenings :) You can enjoy Mangrove boat tour, the boat station is line 5-7 min walk from the hotel. The stuff was always polite and helpful, we were gifted a wine bottle when checking in which was really nice.

The hotel is quite isolated, so if you like long walks in the evening or spend time in the nearby village/city, it can be a problem. However you can use a Grab app and order taxi and go somewhere, but we were told that sometimes drivers refuse to drive back to the hotel late in the evening because of the far location. We usually discovered places in the morning or afternoon. Also, there are no mini- or supermarket where you can go by foot, so be prepared for that too. The second thing is the ebb and flow, we didn’t know that and were shocked firstly, so keep that in mind. It was impossible to swim in the morning, until 1 PM until the ebb, but then water came and it was deep enough to enjoy swimming. So, don’t be upset, you can explore the island or swim in the pool and then. And finally, despite the hotel is beautiful there are some things that caught an eye, like old sinks that are already yellow, some spots on the curtains and beach towels, bad cooked eggs on breakfast. I guess it can be improved, but when the hotel is 5-star, you expect the best of the best.

A Peaceful Getaway

Staff are friendly and rooms are spacious. I had an extra bed put in for my son and the room was still very comfortable.

It is very private and quite a distance from town. Not so good if you want night life but great for a peaceful time.

Very Good

My wife and I stayed at Tanjung Rhu Resort during our Singapore-Malaysia honeymoon trip; the resort stay was indended to be a three-night "recharge" stop between city visits and for that purpose, the resort was fantastic: out of the way in the north-west of Pulau Langkawi with its own massive private beach, very quiet during both daytime and nighttime, with overall very attentive and friendly staff. Special mention goes to the team which prepared and catered for our beach sunset dinner - it was a fantastic experience! The room, a "Cahaya Suite" was extremely spacious, especially the bathroom. We also loved the small arrival surprise, and the rotating TV screen in the suite.

Not much to complain about, but one point that stood out was the fact that while the sports bar had a pizza oven and oven-baked pizzas in the evening, ordering a pizza during the afternoon would get one a not very appealing supermarket-style frozen pizza. I understand that there may be reasons why the pizza oven is fired only at nighttime, but maybe it could also be operating during the afternoon. A second point that did not apply for us, as we've come specifically to relax and recharge, but do not expect much in terms of party - it is a quiet resort located a bit off the beaten path, so if you're staying for a week or more and depend on external animation you may get bored after a while.

Just ok

The room is spacious but has no view at all.

The extra bed charge of 250 rm is too expensive. Claimed that the room is garden facing but it is actually facing the back of the hotel. No view at all. Disappointing. Staff should offer another room as the occupancy seems very low.

Fantastic location & view.

Fantastic location. Great room - we stayed at the B… suite (two bedrooms, huge bathroom in between. We arranged a mangrove tour (must do- was super nice!) and a hike (Eagle’s 1.000 steps which is really 4k - so nice if you like a good climb).

The food was a bit disappointing. Especially given the fact that you don’t have many alternatives nearby.
